Hi!

Does somebody know a Thunderbird extension to playback the voicemail
(wav attachment) directly in Thunderbird? (or another neat workaround?)

I didn't see a reply so I'll make a pass at it. First comes the
question: what platform? UNIX/Linux, MAC, or Windows?

As far as Linux goes I've always used the "play" command. You'll have
to browse for it. Mine (on CentOS 5) is located as /usr/bin/play.

As for Windows I can't say but I'd bet play is available for the MAC.
